David Bowie’s 1978 concerts are heading back to an arena, this time through previously unseen 35mm film. Moonage Daydream director Brett Morgen has reshaped footage from London’s Earls Court into David Bowie in Stage, an immersive screening premiering at Berlin’s Uber Arena on 14 February 2027 in association with the Berlinale.

Announced by Bowie’s estate on 27 October, the project grew out of footage Morgen discovered while making his 2022 documentary. He has spent years restoring, editing and colour-grading the material, favouring longer takes that let performances breathe rather than cutting them into a conventional concert film.

The presentation spreads the images across transparent LED screens, with lighting by Patrick Woodroffe and a 7.1 surround mix by Oscar-winning sound mixer Paul Massey. Wonderworld is producing the experience with Morgen and the estate. The ambition is to bring the scale of an arena concert to a performance captured almost half a century ago.

The set draws on Low and Heroes alongside songs including Ziggy Stardust, Rebel Rebel and Fame. Berlin’s general ticket sale opens on 30 October at 9am GMT. Bowie’s band may be on film, but the audience will be very much in the room.
