Juno Temple, Joey King and James McAvoy are starring in Almost You, a science-fiction comedy already filming in Glasgow. Matt Lipsey, whose television work includes Ted Lasso and Inside No. 9, is directing.

The story follows Phoebe, a robotics engineer struggling with the death of her younger sister Edie. Breaking her employer’s rules, she uses years of messages, videos and social-media posts to create a lifelike artificial-intelligence replica of her sister. The reunion initially brings comfort, before forcing her to confront the consequences of bringing someone back.

The film is being made by Blazing Griffin, Homefront Productions and Scared Goose Entertainment, with Danny Page, Matt Schichter and Rory Stewart producing. McAvoy and Lisa Liberati’s Parker Films is also involved.

Bankside Films is handling worldwide sales and jointly representing the UK and North America with UTA Independent Film Group. The project brings a recognisable cast to a Scottish shoot and a premise that puts family grief at the centre of its technological questions.
