Michelle Dockery and Jessica Gunning are heading into the jungle in Feral, the Netflix series now filming in Queensland. Emma Freeman directs the adaptation of Shirley Conran’s Savages, with Genevieve O’Reilly and Philippa Northeast completing the central cast.

The four play mining executives’ wives whose husbands’ business dealings put them in danger. They must work out how to survive the jungle, and find a way to get along with one another.

Gold Coast rainforest and the Whitsundays provide the locations, bringing Freeman back to her home city. Her television credits include Clickbait and Dustfall. Hera Pictures is making the series with Warner Bros. International Television Production.

Screen Queensland confirmed filming on 23 October. The state government estimates the production will bring A$38.5 million into Queensland’s economy and employ more than 250 cast and crew, with training opportunities through Screen Queensland’s Attachment program.
