HBO’s Harry Potter series has found the voices and faces behind some of Hogwarts’ more unusual residents. David Threlfall will voice the Sorting Hat, while Leo Bill joins as Nearly Headless Nick in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Andrew Brooke will play the Bloody Baron and Daniel Fearn the Fat Friar. Laura Smyth takes on the Fat Lady, the portrait guarding the entrance to Gryffindor’s common room rather than another member of the school’s ghostly population.

The five additions were announced on 30 October, following the casting of Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn as Harry’s parents, James and Lily Potter, and Harry Gilby as Charlie Weasley earlier in the week.

Dominic McLaughlin leads the television adaptation as Harry, alongside Arabella Stanton’s Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout’s Ron Weasley. John Lithgow plays Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer as McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Snape.

Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the series, adapting J.K. Rowling’s novels. Mark Mylod directs several episodes. The latest announcement fills out the first season’s cast.
