Robert Pattinson’s Primetime has opened at No. 1 in Australia, taking A$1.3 million over the October 29–November 1 weekend and knocking Clayface into second place.

Advance screenings lift the thriller’s Australian total to A$1.41 million, according to weekend figures reported by Variety Australia. Clayface collected A$1.08 million in its second weekend, bringing its Australian total to A$3.59 million.

Directed by Lance Oppenheim, Primetime casts Pattinson as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen. Inspired by events in 2006, it follows an undercover television operation that goes fatally wrong, turning a pursuit of ratings into a nightmare. It opened in Australia on October 29, more than a month after its US release.

There was another new arrival in the top five. Pressure, Australian director Anthony Maras’ D-Day thriller starring Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser, opened with A$479,000, or A$593,000 including previews. It follows the tense 72 hours before the Allied invasion, when a weather forecast could decide whether the operation went ahead.

Wildwood held third with A$606,000, ahead of Street Fighter’s A$518,000. Further down the chart, The Odyssey was still drawing audiences in its 16th weekend, adding A$268,000 to an Australian total of A$70.4 million.
