Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård’s romantic fantasy Wicker has opened at number one in the UK and Ireland over the 30 October–1 November weekend, narrowly ahead of Robert Pattinson’s Primetime.
Comscore figures published on 2 November put Wicker on £1,757,184 and Primetime on £1,747,043, a difference of £10,141. Both totals include previews: £98,000 for Wicker and £459,000 for Primetime.
Black Bear launched Wicker in 676 cinemas, its widest release yet, according to Screen International. That exceeded the 655 venues booked for Wildwood a week earlier.
Written and directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, Wicker follows a fisherwoman who commissions a husband made from wicker, unsettling her conservative neighbours. Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki also star.
Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime casts Pattinson as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen. Set in 2006, the thriller follows a television operation that goes fatally wrong.
Ghosts: The Possession of Button House added £1,524,676 in its second weekend, taking its UK and Ireland total to £6,335,031. Clayface collected £1,230,586 for a running total of £4,685,884, while Wildwood reached £2,813,350 after two weekends.
