Brad Pitt’s new Cliff Booth film will play at AMC cinemas, but US cinema chains Regal and Cinemark will not take part in its US IMAX release, TheWrap reports.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth opens on 25 November for a two-week IMAX run and arrives on Netflix on 23 December. The film brings back Pitt’s stuntman from Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, with David Fincher directing a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino.
Regal said the short period before streaming was a factor in its decision. It will instead give IMAX support to The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which opens the previous week. Cinemark is also passing on the film.
AMC and smaller exhibitors will still show Cliff Booth. TheWrap reports a planned release on about 550 screens worldwide, including 200 in the United States.
Set in 1977, the film finds Booth working as a Hollywood fixer. A job involving a talent agent and her television-star client draws him into fresh trouble. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II co-star.
