Crystal Lake has made a sizeable splash on Peacock. The Friday the 13th prequel drew 1.3 billion minutes of viewing in its first 11 days, making it the service’s fourth-biggest scripted original debut, according to figures reported by Peacock on 27 October.
Linda Cardellini leads the eight-part series as Pam Voorhees, a single mother still grieving the drowning of her young son, Jason. When two strangers turn up asking questions about her past, the town’s troubles become rather more immediate.
Created by Brad Caleb Kane and produced by A24, the series puts Jason’s mother at the centre of the story rather than racing straight for the hockey mask. It launched in the United States on 15 October, with all eight episodes available on Peacock.
The result gives the franchise a strong start in its new television home. UK and Irish viewers can also watch the complete series on Sky and NOW, where it arrived on 19 October.
