HBO has found Harry Potter’s parents. Jasper Talbot will play James Potter and Hannah Chinn will play Lily, while Harry Gilby joins the television adaptation as Charlie Weasley, Ron’s older brother.
The three additions were announced on Tuesday for the first season, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. They join Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron.
James and Lily sit at the emotional centre of Harry’s story: their deaths leave him growing up with the Dursleys before his invitation to Hogwarts changes everything. The official first teaser has already offered a glimpse of Hagrid talking to Harry about his parents.
Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the series, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. John Lithgow plays Dumbledore, alongside Janet McTeer as McGonagall and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
The series is due at Christmas 2026 on HBO in the US and HBO Max, including in the UK and Ireland.
