Olivia Wilde’s The Invite is in a five-way tie at the top of this year’s Gotham Film Awards nominations, alongside All of a Sudden, Clarissa, La Gradiva and Mike Leigh’s Tender Loving Care. Each earned four nominations in the list announced on Tuesday.
The Invite is up for best feature, adapted screenplay and Penélope Cruz’s supporting performance, as well as the returning Audience Award. The prize is back after a six-year break, with Gotham members choosing the winner from a field that also includes Project Hail Mary, Michael, Obsession and You Can See Everything.
Canadian filmmaker Sophy Romvari also has reason to celebrate: Blue Heron earned nominations for international feature and breakthrough director. Her debut follows a family’s troubled fresh start on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s.
Among the lead-performance nominees are Julianne Moore for The Debut, Ian McKellen for The Christophers and Andrew Scott for Elsinore.
The winners will be announced at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on November 30.
