Parker Posey has left Sleepover, the horror film from Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal that had announced her casting earlier this month.
The White Lotus actor disclosed the change during an appearance on NBC’s TODAY on Monday, October 26. Asked by Craig Melvin about the project, she said, “No. I’m not doing it anymore.” She confirmed she had previously been attached, adding only that “something came up”.
Jacob Chase, whose credits include Come Play and Insidious: Out of the Further, is directing Sleepover from a screenplay co-written with Bryce McGuire, the writer behind Night Swim. The film is adapted from McGuire’s original short story.
The film was previously scheduled for US cinemas on 8 October 2027. Universal Pictures is presenting the Cinescape Entertainment production with Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Jason Blum producing.
Posey’s earlier horror roles include actress Jennifer Jolie in Scream 3 and vampire executive Danica Talos in Blade: Trinity. She also appeared in Ari Aster’s Beau Is Afraid before playing Victoria Ratliff in the third season of The White Lotus.
