Australian soccer star Sam Kerr is looking for someone to step into her boots. Paramount+ has commissioned Sam Kerr Kicking Goals, a live-action series about the football star’s childhood, with a nationwide search underway for its young cast.
The adaptation follows an 11-year-old Sam in Western Australia, juggling school, family, friendships and football long before the international stadiums. It draws on the children’s books Kerr co-wrote with Fiona Harris, with her best friends alongside her through the obstacles and adventures of growing up.
“It’s pretty surreal knowing that Kicking Goals is being adapted into a TV series,” Kerr said in the announcement. She hopes the young actor chosen to play her will have an experience they will never forget.
Kerr will also executive produce the series, which Orange Entertainment Co. is making for Paramount+ Australia. Filming is due to begin in Western Australia in early 2027, bringing the production back to her home state.
Casting covers Sam and her friends, with the series set to stream exclusively on Paramount+ in 2027.
