Dakota Fanning’s Alaskan love triangle is travelling further. Focus Features has acquired the remaining international territories for The Sun Never Sets, Joe Swanberg’s romantic drama with Jake Johnson and Cory Michael Smith, according to Deadline.

Universal Pictures International is set to distribute the film for Focus. London-based sales company Capture says the film is now sold out internationally, following deals including Minerva in Italy, NonStop in Scandinavia and NOS in Portugal.

Fanning plays Wendy, whose older boyfriend Jack, played by Johnson, asks for a break to reconsider their relationship. Reconnecting with her ex Chuck, played by Smith, makes that period of reflection considerably more complicated.

Swanberg, the writer-director of Drinking Buddies, shot the film on 35mm in Alaska. It premiered at SXSW earlier this year, with Debby Ryan, Anna Konkle, Lamorne Morris and Karley Sciortino also in the cast.

The new international sales follow the film’s North American release. Independent Film Company and Sapan Studio acquired US rights in May, extending a relationship that the distributor described as its tenth film with Swanberg.
