Big Little Lies has returned to filming for a single day, with the main season-three shoot still expected in 2027, Variety reports.
The HBO drama filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Burbank’s Ranch Lot on 29 October. Alias actor Merrin Dungey, who plays Detective Adrienne Quinlan, was among those taking part.
Insiders told Variety the shoot was arranged to retain an approved California tax credit. The state’s current programme guidelines allow productions to meet their start deadline with one day of principal photography, followed by a break of up to 120 days.
A start date for full production has not been locked, and HBO declined to comment. The third season’s director has also yet to be confirmed.
Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern lead the Monterey-set drama, which last aired in 2019. Francesca Sloane, whose credits include Mr. & Mrs. Smith, is writing the opening episode and executive producing alongside David E. Kelley, Kidman and Witherspoon.
