A pampered show dog losing her celebrity status is the unlikely starting point for Fallen Angel, a new adult animated comedy featuring Dawn French, Richard Ayoade, Rhys Ifans and Morfydd Clark.
The short is one of three BBC Wales comedy pilots announced on 26 October, with all three heading to BBC iPlayer on Friday 30 October ahead of BBC One Wales broadcasts in November.
Craig Roberts and Josh Hicks wrote and directed the Fallen Angel pilot for Cliff Edge Pictures. Its canine star, Angel, suffers an accident, loses the affection of her status-conscious owners and must rebuild her life with an oversized neighbour for company. Roberts also joins the voice cast.
The other two offer different kinds of trouble. Hard Shoulder stars Owain Arthur and Tom Bennett in a comedy about a mechanic who insists on fixing customers’ lives as well as their cars. Zooport follows a disgraced filmmaker returning to Newport, with Jim Caesar, Carly-Sophia Davies and Rakie Ayola starring.
