Justin Long is joining Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne in Nasty, the gymnastics drama from If I Had Legs I’d Kick You director Mary Bronstein. The Hollywood Reporter revealed the new casting on 29 October.
The film follows an athlete fighting for a place on the Olympic gymnastics team, only to find that the person coaching her is also her biggest obstacle. That puts a rather different kind of pressure on the road to a medal.
Nasty reunites Byrne with Bronstein after If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, while pairing her with Wednesday star Ortega. Warner Bros.’ specialty label Clockwork is releasing the film, which was announced with its two leads in July.
Isabella Jarosz wrote the screenplay, which appeared on the Black List of admired unproduced scripts and became her first script sale. Ortega is also producing alongside LuckyChap, the company behind Barbie and Saltburn.
