Paul Bettany and Asha Banks will play a father and daughter brought together by music in It’s Alright, a new comedy also starring Colin Firth and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Bettany has co-written the screenplay with Scott Stewart, who will direct the film.
The story follows Peter Sayer, a fading pop star on the brink of financial ruin. A letter sends him in search of Georgie, the 19-year-old daughter who has no idea he exists.
After watching her perform in her hometown, Peter panics and introduces himself as a music producer. He brings Georgie to London with the promise of working on her demo, keeping their family connection to himself.
As their partnership develops, Georgie helps revive Peter’s faltering comeback. But the industry mogul backing him pushes him away from his musical vision, forcing a choice between commercial success and the work he and his daughter have created together.
Banks, who plays Georgie opposite Bettany’s Peter, starred in Prime Video’s My Fault: London and its sequel Your Fault: London. The project comes from Raindog Films and Pacesetter Productions.
