RAYE will write original music and voice a character in Lizard Music, joining Dwayne Johnson in Benny Safdie’s fantasy adventure, Deadline reports.
The United Artists film combines live action with CGI. Safdie has adapted Daniel Pinkwater’s novel about a boy who discovers a strange late-night television broadcast featuring lizards playing music.
Theo Leber plays the boy, whose search for answers leads him to Johnson’s eccentric Chicken Man and his elderly chicken, Claudia. Together, they set off to find a hidden society.
The ensemble also includes Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, Regina Hall and Alicia Silverstone. The film reunites Johnson and Safdie after The Smashing Machine, moving their collaboration from a real-life fighting drama into an imaginary world.
For RAYE, the project brings her songwriting and performance together in a new setting. Her second album, This Music May Contain Hope, became her first UK number-one album this year and won the Mercury Prize.
She made BRIT Awards history in 2024, winning six trophies in one night, including Album of the Year for My 21st Century Blues. She also became the first woman to receive the ceremony’s Songwriter of the Year award.
