Noah Wyle’s Dr Robby is returning to hospital drama The Pitt in a different frame of mind. Speaking in Pittsburgh as the cast filmed season-three exteriors, Wyle said the doctor comes back from his sabbatical ready to seek the help colleagues have urged him to get.

“You’re going to see a slightly more aspirational Robby than you’ve met before,” he said at a Pittsburgh press conference.

The new season follows one emergency-room shift on 12 November 2026. Wyle said a homeless encampment will be a major strand, with his research drawing on Pittsburgh’s Operation Safety Net street-medicine programme.

That local connection extends to the production. Allegheny General Hospital confirmed the team’s return for scenes around its entrances and LifeFlight helipad, while interiors continue to shoot on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank.

Wyle also said other characters, including Katherine LaNasa’s charge nurse Dana Evans, will carry storylines. The third season is due on HBO Max in January 2027.
