Varada Sethu would happily return to Doctor Who, and she was just as surprised as viewers by the ending of Ncuti Gatwa’s final episode in 2025. Apparently, travelling in the TARDIS does not get you every spoiler.
Speaking to Tia Kofi on The Whoniverse Show, released on 27 October, the actor answered “100% yes. I would” when asked about coming back as Belinda Chandra. That is enthusiasm, rather than a casting announcement, but a welcome thought for anyone missing the nurse’s no-nonsense approach to the Doctor.
Sethu also revealed she had not known Gatwa’s regeneration would bring Billie Piper back to the screen. She learned about it while at the Mighty Hoopla festival, where other attendees started reacting to the finale.
On Belinda’s own ending, Sethu took a different view from some disappointed fans. She liked that the character got to keep her daughter Poppy, rather than lose her to an alternate reality.
